Yellow Butter Cake

A Yellow Butter Cake is a classic and versatile dessert that serves as a great base for various frostings and fillings. Here's a simple recipe for you:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.

  6. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.

  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  8. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once your Yellow Butter Cake has cooled, you can frost and decorate it as desired. This cake pairs well with various frostings such as chocolate, vanilla, or cream cheese. Enjoy your baking!
