Homemade Pizza
Ingredients:
For the pizza dough:
- 1 1/2 cups warm water (about 110°F or 45°C)
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
For the pizza toppings:
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Your choice of toppings (e.g., pepperoni, sliced bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, olives, etc.)
Instructions:
In a small bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until it's smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise for about 1-1.5 hours until it's doubled in size.
Preheat your oven to the highest temperature it can go (usually around 500°F or 260°C).
Punch down the dough and divide it into two equal portions. Roll each portion into a 12-inch round pizza crust.
Place the pizza crusts on pizza pans or baking sheets.
Spread pizza sauce over the crusts, leaving a small border for the crust.
Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce and add your choice of toppings.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and lightly browned.
Remove from the oven, let it cool for a minute, then slice and enjoy your homemade pizza!
