Homemade Pizza

Ingredients:

For the pizza dough:

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (about 110°F or 45°C)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt

For the pizza toppings:

  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Your choice of toppings (e.g., pepperoni, sliced bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, olives, etc.)

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.

  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until it's smooth and elastic.

  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise for about 1-1.5 hours until it's doubled in size.

  5. Preheat your oven to the highest temperature it can go (usually around 500°F or 260°C).

  6. Punch down the dough and divide it into two equal portions. Roll each portion into a 12-inch round pizza crust.

  7. Place the pizza crusts on pizza pans or baking sheets.

  8. Spread pizza sauce over the crusts, leaving a small border for the crust.

  9. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce and add your choice of toppings.

  10. Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and lightly browned.

  11. Remove from the oven, let it cool for a minute, then slice and enjoy your homemade pizza!
