Classic Barbecue Sauce:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions:
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine all the ingredients.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low.
- Simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.
- Taste and adjust the seasonings as needed.
- Let the sauce cool before using.
Barbecue Chicken:
Ingredients:
- 4-6 chicken pieces (drumsticks, thighs, or a combination)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Olive oil for brushing
- Barbecue sauce (homemade or store-bought)
Instructions:
Prepare the Grill:
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
Season the Chicken:
- Season the chicken pieces with salt and black pepper.
Grill the Chicken:
- Brush the grill grates with oil to prevent sticking.
- Place the chicken on the grill and cook for about 10-15 minutes per side or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- During the last few minutes of cooking, brush the chicken with barbecue sauce, allowing it to caramelize.
