Fish and Chips and Sunday Roast
Fish and Chips:
For the Fish:
- 4 fillets of white fish (such as cod or haddock)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup cold sparkling water
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
For the Chips:
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and cut into thick strips
- Salt to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:
Prepare the Chips:
- Rinse the potato strips in cold water to remove excess starch.
- In a deep fryer or large pan, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the potato strips until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt.
Prepare the Fish Batter:
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
- Slowly add cold sparkling water while whisking to create a smooth batter.
Fry the Fish:
- Dip each fish fillet into the batter, ensuring it's evenly coated.
- Fry the battered fish in the hot oil until golden brown and cooked through. This usually takes about 4-5 minutes per side
