Meatloaf


 

Meatloaf is a classic comfort food dish. Here's a basic recipe for making a delicious meatloaf:

Ingredients:

For the Meatloaf:

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef (you can also use a combination of ground beef and ground pork)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

For the Topping:

  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon mustard (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, chopped onion, green bell pepper, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, and milk. Mix gently to combine.

  3. In a separate small bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, eggs, salt, and pepper.

  4. Pour the ketchup mixture over the meat mixture and combine everything thoroughly. Use your hands to mix if necessary.

  5. Shape the meat mixture into a loaf and place it in a baking dish.

  6. In a small bowl, mix 1/2 cup ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard (if using). Spread this mixture over the top of the meatloaf.

  7. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 1 hour, or until the meatloaf is cooked through and has an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).

  8. Allow the meatloaf to rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
