 Tuna Salad

Tuna salad is a versatile and delicious dish. Here's a basic recipe for making a classic tuna salad:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cans (5 ounces each) of canned tuna, drained
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1-2 tablespoons Dijon mustard (adjust to taste)
  • 2-3 celery stalks, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 2-3 tablespoons dill pickle relish (or chopped dill pickles)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional additions: diced hard-boiled eggs, chopped fresh parsley, lemon juice, or capers

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, flake the drained canned tuna using a fork.

  2. Add mayonnaise and Dijon mustard to the tuna and mix until well combined. Adjust the amount of mayonnaise and mustard to achieve your desired creaminess and flavor.

  3. Stir in the finely chopped celery, red onion, and dill pickle relish (or chopped pickles) to the tuna mixture.

  4. Season the salad with salt and black pepper to taste. Be mindful of the salt, as canned tuna and pickles can be salty.

  5. If desired, you can add diced hard-boiled eggs, chopped fresh parsley, a splash of lemon juice, or capers for extra flavor.

  6. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the tuna salad for at least 30 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld together.

Tuna salad can be served in a variety of ways, such as in sandwiches, wraps, on crackers, or over a bed of greens. It's a versatile and quick dish that's perfect for a light lunch or a snack. Enjoy your homemade tuna salad!
